As of August 2023, I am officially retired from my seasonal work as a cherry drying pilot. That means I’m living on income from odd jobs here and there and my retirement savings. And although I’ve been earning a good part of my living as a writer since 1990, I’m now competing with amateurs who are willing to write for free or “exposure” and dealing with ever lower payments for my writing work.
