A quick stop in an historic mining town.
After two nights boondocking out in the desert south of Ajo, AZ (see my previous video), I decided to stop at Ajo Plaza on my way out of town. Due to poor planning on my part, everything was closed. And, of course, since I didn’t really expect to stop along the way, I didn’t do any research beforehand, so the audio includes me babbling about the area.
Ajo is a small mining town with a year-round population of about 3000 people (per the 2020 census). You can learn more in its Wikipedia entry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajo,_Arizona) or on its Chamber of Commerce website (http://www.ajochamber.com/).
I’ve love your feedback about this style of video. Short, narrated views are easy for me to shoot but lack the polish you might find in more produced videos.

Very nice! Next best to my being there. Thanks!
Thanks!
Been on the road myself for 9 years now. I boondock also.I like Ajo. Might make her a base location while I continue to wander.
The desert south of there is quite beautiful. I camped two night south of the mine and was amazed by how quiet it was.
The school has been made into apartments for artists. The rent is based on your income. It is a great setup..
That is a GREAT idea. In retirement, I’m probably going to create a gallery with studio and learning space for other artists. Never thought of residences, though.
What a wonderful morning in a really beautiful place.
Your soundtrack has captured a terrific and insistent dawn chorus.
The birds were amazing. I should have just captured about 60 seconds of that for use in other videos.
I like the style, Maria. It seems more immediate and is a nice contrast to your edited and finished videos.
Thanks! I think this is a style I can live with. Short on-the-spot looks and thoughts about places I visit. I have footage for two more videos that I was trying to work into a single longer piece but I’ll rework them. It’s a lot more fun to be spontaneous, although I have to remember to get enough footage for a complete look.
